31 May 2022...A few Favourite views of the month, from the Fabled Realm.
Coarse Gardening at the marginal fringe. One eyed camera views don't quite hit the spot for me.Being there in the here and now armed with my stereoscopic vision is what does it best I reckon. It's early days in the season, hard to spot the veg for flowers, herbs and the shadow of young trees. . The on going gives us some enjoyment ,we're glad to share whilst we are waiting. We won't go hungry , plenty in store. Jars of preserves, winter salad. peas, beans, spuds, leaks and carrots. We still have Spaghetti marrows from last season., Our small income manages to cover the overheads and still afford us simple "luxuries" like coffee, sugar, tea, milk and butter.
The first budding bloom of a scented climbing Rose. The beginning of a long skyward journey. It will be trained to form one side of an arched entrance. These akanthus outside the kitchen door, are getting a lot of attention from big black Carpenter bees. They don't look bad on it. Grateful for the help, I guess.Monday, 30 May 2022

A Bitter Peace...
A bit of mud, rocks and whatever diverse variety of green stuff that would grow in support of our lives. It's a place, not a thing. Home Ground. We're not waiting to be rescued by administrative incompetants. Aeriel images would show little of a lateral ground view, nothing that would fill a bag with intelligence, the edible kind. The garden hides in plain sight.
Explosion...
First bud of the climbing rose. To be trained over an arch and joined to the Boxwood hedge on the other side .
Gooseberries... I had forgotten about these. They appear to be thriving by my neglect. Healthy plant, an abundance of fruit. I'll take cuttings for propagation once the harvest is done.
Growing spuds by the "Bee hole" method.Holes filled with soil, now straw mulch, next, grass clippings
All prepared for a busy Summer. Go with the flow, Grow with the hoe. Sweet corn, Swiss Chard, Onions left to self sow . Runnerbeans and cucumbers are graced by Sweet Williams daisies andNasturtiums
White Campions camoflage the Runner Beans. Scarlet Emperor grown from rhizomes, (super early)
Nasturtium on the rocks...
Pop in again, see you soon.

It won't be long before we're eating these fast growing Globe Navets.
More Brassicca seedlings ,ready for the great outdoor adventure. There are Scallions sown between the brasicca rows , When the Greens have been relocated the purple Scallions will have the patch to themselves.
A rare chance opportunity to catch Anne-So resting.
There 's my Vietnamese Hoe. I've been searching for it over most of an afternoon., Lettuce and baby Carrots are looking good.
Memorialising Smudge Sitting on my lap for the first time. I played him to sleep with a little Smudgy Lullaby.
A touch of Shangrila, Pagoda flowers that produce chocolate flavour berries. A clump of pink and white Daisies,Saxifrage and Boxwood lead up the garden path. The bricks are destined to become the base of an outdoor oven.

Plantscape details..the Izdom of Iz.
Some kind of Iris, I haven't found it's name yet. We like it. It likes where we put it. Like shafts of light in even the darkest days.
Valerian...
This is the source of a root, useful to induce relaxed sleep, a strong useful herb, emergency in the cause of relief of stress anxiety. Our little plant has graduated to making a small colony. fluffy white flowers, the roots have a pungent musky odore. These pink blooms are Marsh Valerian. a totally "other" species. Invasive and toxic. Do not ingest. Also comes in white.
Ayup, first of the Beetroot just showing through the mulch.
